Architectural Sculpture Bookend of the Hotel Central in Prague By Timothy Richards
|
Product Description
The fluid organic lines of Art Nouveau surround this doorway from Prague. At the turn of the 20th century this sensual style was sweeping through Europe from Brussels to Paris, London to Spain and then across the Atlantic to North America and Canada. This beautiful example captures the excitement and energy of the period. Art Nouveau can be traced right back into the swirls and decoration of medieval manuscripts, a style revived and exploited by England's William Morris and then carried into wonderful architectural excess by Victor Horta of Belgium and Hector Guimard who designed the Parisien metros. This is one of a series of fine Architectural models made by world-renowned artist, Timothy Richards. These models are made with plaster and other traditional construction materials including lead, acid-etched brass, glass, copper and gold leaf. Each model is individually hand-made in Timothy's studio and worskhop in Bath in England.
